Why Vienna is worth a visit

Today, Vienna is a charming, mid-sized European capital with around 2 million residents. But around 1900, it was one of the five largest cities in the world—alongside New York, Chicago, Paris, and London. Back then, Vienna was a bustling hub, attracting people from across the Habsburg Empire.

This vibrant, multicultural environment also fostered groundbreaking innovations in medicine, chemistry, and physics during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The City of music

Vienna is best known as the City of Music. Who hasn’t heard of Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, or Johann Strauss Jr.?

If you love music, plan to spend more than a day in Vienna—there’s so much to see and, of course, hear! Some must-visit spots include:

Vienna’s musical history doesn’t stop in the 19th century! Have you heard of the Eurovision Song Contest? It’s happening in Vienna this May, after Austrian singer JJ won the competition last year. I can share more details if you’re interested.

My top 10 of Vienna

Vienna is small, compared to big cities like London and New York. Nevertheless, Vienna has a lot to offer for all interests and tastes. So, what to do? What to see and explore? To give you some insight, here are my Top 10 of Vienna.

  • "TOP NOTCH TOUR OF ART NOUVEAU VIENNA"

Barbara, was a great guide for the Vienna’s Art Nouveau tour. We visited important sites including Secession House and Otto Wagner-designed buildings. She provided historical background and answered our varied questions about history, art, Vienna past and present. She could not have provided us a more thorough, useful and pleasant experience.

  • "Had a wonderful tour..."

Had a wonderful tour experience with Barbara. She was a wealth of information on Vienna, history and of course art. She helped us understand not just individual paintings, but how they fit into the overall city's history. We also learned the history of the palace and the surrounding area. I highly recommend this tour to bring. meaning to the art. This museum is huge and without a guide I would have just wandered its halls and taken little away with me. Barbara gave us plenty of time for photos and to walk around on our own in each room before she moved us on. The tour ended with a walk around the building and down to the lower house as well.
